Brain Arteriovenous Malformations (AVM) - Surgical Treatment
Case Examples:
This is a 22 year-old man who suffered from a seizure
disorder. Investigations, including an MRI of the brain and an
angiogram, revealed a large AVM. He elected to have this AVM removed
surgically because of the risk of bleeding from this AVM over his
lifetime.
Pre-Treatment:
Pre-operative two dimensional angiogram showing the
AVM (red arrow). |
| |
Three dimensional angiogram showing the same AVM
(arrow). This angiogram permits a more detailed view of the AVM and
the blood vessels that surround it. |

View of the same AVM from a different angle, made
possible by rotating the 3D model. |
Post-Treatment:
Post operative two dimensional angiogram
showing that the AVM has been removed. |

Angiogram from a different angle, showing
that the AVM has been removed. |
